Fabric handles this kind of image better than a coated film does, because the weave absorbs ink instead of sitting it on a surface that can scuff. Behind the animals the savanna is thrown out of focus into warm ochre and olive, the only color anywhere in the frame. The foal is turned slightly toward the camera while the adult looks away, and that small difference is what gives the image its stillness.

It fills the panel edge to edge with no border, so the composition is cropped to the square rather than shown whole. Both animals' heads sit in the upper half where they read best. Nothing important falls into the folds when it is hung.
The ochre and olive are heavily blurred and desaturated, so they act as warmth rather than as a third colour. In practice the room still reads as monochrome with a soft edge. If you want pure black and white, a graphic print rather than a photograph is the better route.
At normal viewing distance they are sharp, including the narrow stripes at the muzzle and the fringe of the mane. Very close up you will see the weave, which is true of every printed textile. The image was scaled for this panel size rather than stretched to fit.
No, it sits on the front face, and the reverse shows a much paler ghost of the same image. Hang the strong face into the room. Nobody in the shower is looking at a blank white wall either way.
