The opening is sized for the round rods most bathrooms already use, including curved ones of the same diameter. Slide them on before you mount the rod if the ends sit tight against the wall. On an unusually thick rod, measure first.
It is plated over formed metal rather than painted, which is why it keeps its tone in a steamy room. Plating can dull where hard water dries on it, so an occasional wipe keeps the color even across all twelve. There is no lacquer layer to flake off.
