Orange is handled here as light rather than as pigment: the Orange Floral Shower Curtain photographs large open blooms in tangerine and apricot, backlit so the petals go translucent at the edges, with two monarch butterflies crossing the lower half and their wings picking up the same tone. Behind everything the image falls away into soft white, and a few smaller flowers are left deliberately out of focus. The result is warm without being heavy, because at least half the panel is still white. Focus sits on the two nearest blooms and everything behind them falls away, which gives the panel a shallow depth of field more usually seen in a photograph on a wall than on fabric.
