The design is drawn rather than photographed, with three bands of pale blue water rolling across a deep turquoise ground, each one topped by a white scalloped crest and surrounded by loose white dots for spray. There is no horizon, no boat and no sand, just the wave shapes repeating down the panel. The dots of spray are scattered unevenly rather than set in rows, and a few sit well clear of the crests as though thrown there by the wind.
