A single painted eye takes up the upper half of this 72 x 84 shower curtain, lashes fanning out in yellow, cobalt and crimson, with the pigment left to run in vertical streaks all the way down the white ground. The drips are the design: they stretch the composition downward and make the panel read as a canvas rather than a repeat print. Up close the brushwork stays visible, including the dry-edged strokes around the iris and the pooled pigment where two colors met while still wet. Everything above the lashes is left blank white, which is what keeps the image from feeling heavy.

On the taller cuts it sits roughly at eye level for most adults, which is deliberate. On the shorter 71-inch drops the whole composition rides higher, closer to the rod. If you find it confronting, the narrow widths crop it tighter and read more like a graphic than a portrait.
The streaks are printed, not real pigment, so they fade at the same rate as the rest of the artwork. What does change first is the white ground, which can pick up a grey cast in hard water. Washing at low temperature keeps the contrast between drip and background sharp.
The reverse is a much paler version of the same image, legible but washed out. It will not read as blank white, so hang the vivid face toward whichever side of the room you want the artwork in. In a small bathroom people usually turn it outward.
