The whole effect of this 84 shower curtain rests on a color decision: a vixen and her kit photographed in warm russet and cream, dropped onto a ground of unbroken black with no scenery around them. Nothing else competes, so the fur reads as the light source, from the dark chestnut on the ears down to the pale cream of the chest and the fine white guard hairs at the edges. Against the black the animals look cut out and lit from the front, closer to a studio portrait than to a wildlife scene. The kit sits in front of the adult, slightly lower in the frame, which is what gives the pair their odd formality.

Below the animals. The foxes stay the same size and sit in the upper portion, so the additional sixteen inches is black ground running down to the hem. That works under a high rail and looks like dead weight under a standard one.
Close to it on the 71-inch widths, where the adult stands about as tall as a real one seen from a few feet away. Narrower cuts keep the same scale and crop the background instead. That one-to-one feeling is a large part of the appeal.
Black polyester prints do drift warm eventually, usually from sunlight rather than washing. A bathroom with frosted glass or no window barely ages it at all. Washing cool and drying out of direct light is the whole maintenance routine.
It is a high-resolution photograph, sharp enough that individual guard hairs are visible along the outline. On a fabric weave you will always see a hint of texture at the closest range. From normal viewing distance it reads as crisp.
