Bathroom with Black Shower Curtain uses black as a background rather than a color: the panel is unlit apart from a stack of pale grey pebbles, a single white water lily and a few dry grass stems, all reflected in still water along the lower edge. The contrast is what carries it, and because the ground is genuinely dark rather than charcoal, the pebbles appear to float. It is the closest thing in the range to a spa photograph.

Not at the temperature we recommend. What dulls a black polyester panel is heat rather than water, so an 86 F cycle and line drying keep the ground dense. Panels that go grey have usually been through a hot dryer.
The reflection runs horizontally along the lower quarter, so vertical folds break it up but do not hide it. The lotus and the stone stack are the elements that stay legible from across the room; the ripples read as texture at that distance.
Anything that puts light on the panel rather than behind it. A ceiling fixture works, a mirror light bouncing off white tile works better, and a dim single bulb makes the whole thing read as a flat dark rectangle with a white smudge in it.
