The composition is the reason to buy this black and brown shower curtain: roughly two thirds of the panel is unbroken black, and the tiger walks forward out of it, lit from above so only the head, shoulders and forepaws catch light. Amber and rust stripes read hot against the dark, and low mist blurs the base of the image. Nothing else competes for attention, which is what separates it from a printed wildlife scene where the whole panel is busy. The mist is added rather than photographed, which is obvious if you look for it, but it serves the composition by softening the transition into the black ground.

Effectively a black rectangle. That is a feature if you want the tiger to appear when the light goes on, and a drawback if the room is already dim. It needs a lamp or a window to be worth looking at.
Photographic, with the mist and lighting worked in afterward. At normal viewing distance the fur and whiskers are convincing. The dramatic lighting is clearly staged rather than natural, which most people read as intentional.
Yes. The 35-inch cut keeps the tiger centered and complete, just narrower. It is one of the few large-subject prints that survives being scaled to a stall, because the surrounding black absorbs the size change.
