Description

Continuous Black Contour Lines on a Soft Bone Ground

Contemporary Shower Curtain Ideas is a study in one continuous line: black contours loop and fold across a bone-white ground, gathering into dense bundles in places and opening into wide space in others. There is no figure to identify and no repeat to spot, so the eye follows the line instead. The panel is cut from a certified polyester with a soft handle and finished with a shaped lower edge, which gives the drape a weight that flat-hemmed panels do not have.

  • Size: 71 x 79 inches, single cut
  • Material: 100% Oeko-Tex certified polyester
  • Artwork: continuous black contour line drawing
  • Ground: soft bone white
  • Hem: shaped bottom edge for even draping
  • Handle: soft weave that does not cling
  • Rings: not included with the panel
  • Care: machine washable, cool cycle

Contour Line in a Minimal, Warm-Toned Room

Because the artwork is line rather than mass, this panel reads as texture from a distance and as drawing up close, which suits a minimal bathroom where a strong print would be too much. Bone white sits better than optical white against oak, travertine and warm plaster, and the black line gives you permission to use matte black taps without the room going stark. It is among the most restrained pieces in our artistic panels, and the Mauve Colored Shower Curtains holds a similar hand-drawn quality in a dusty, colored palette rather than monochrome. Under a warm bulb the bone ground goes slightly sandy, which is when the black line looks its best.

Questions, answered.

It is a soft bone white with a warm cast rather than an optical white. Against a bright white tile it reads slightly creamy; against travertine or warm plaster it disappears into the wall, which is how the drawing is meant to sit.

It does, and it is marked by the header rather than by the artwork, since the composition is close to balanced. Hung the intended way the densest bundle of line sits below the midpoint, which keeps the panel from looking top-heavy.

It gives the lower edge enough body to fall straight instead of curling in toward the tub, which is the usual failing of a light polyester panel. The practical effect is that the folds stay even without you arranging them.

No. There is a clear margin of bone ground on all four sides, so the drawing sits inside the panel like a print inside a mount rather than running off it. That margin is also what makes the composition survive being gathered at one end of the rail.
