Description

A Fine Waffle Grid Woven in Undyed Sand

What makes this cream colored shower curtain worth hanging is structural rather than printed: the polyester is woven in a fine waffle grid, small enough that from two paces it reads as a plain sand panel and only resolves into squares when you stand close or run a hand across it. That texture is what stops a single-tone curtain looking like a blank sheet. The bottom edge is purpose-shaped so the folds stay even across the whole width. There is no printed layer on the face at all, so the panel keeps a cloth hand rather than the slight tackiness a heavy print leaves behind.

  • Dimensions: 71 x 79 inches (width x height)
  • Material: 100% Oeko-Tex certified polyester
  • Texture: fine waffle weave, undyed sand tone
  • Finish: no print, no border, no sheen
  • Hem: shaped bottom edge for an even drape
  • Hand: soft cloth feel, no plastic cling
  • Rings: not included, sold separately
  • Care: machine washable, cool cycle

Cream That Takes the Chill Off Grey Tile

Grey bathrooms go cold quickly, and a sand panel is the cheapest correction there is: it warms the light bouncing around the room without introducing a colour you then have to match. Against white tile it reads softer than white; against wood it disappears into the palette. You will find it among our waffle shower curtains, and for the same undecorated approach with a drawn line added on top, the Contemporary Black and White Shower Curtain is the next step along. In a rental or a bathroom you are not ready to commit to, it is also the least reversible-looking choice on the wall, which is worth something when everything else in the room is fixed.

Questions, answered.

It is fine rather than the deep honeycomb you find on a bath towel. You can feel the grid clearly with a hand and see it in raking light, but from across the room the panel reads as a smooth sand colour. If you want visible relief from the doorway, this is subtler than you expect.

It leans warm, closer to sand or oatmeal than to a cool ivory, which is exactly why it works as a corrective in a grey room. Under cool white bulbs it looks more neutral; under a warm bulb the sand tone comes forward.

The pockets in the grid are shallow and the fabric is light, so it dries at much the same rate as a flat weave. Spreading it out rather than bunching it in a corner matters more to drying time than the texture does.

It darkens where water hits it and becomes slightly more translucent, as any pale single-layer fabric does, then returns to its dry tone as it dries. It does not become transparent enough to lose privacy in a shared bathroom.
