The fall color shower curtains print is photographic: a stand of slender trees shot into low autumn sun, with rust and amber leaves still on the branches, more of them scattered across the ground and the light breaking between the trunks in vertical bands. The colour sits entirely in the warm half of the spectrum, from pale gold through orange to a deep brown at the trunks, and there is no green anywhere in it. The light comes from behind the trees rather than from the side, which is what puts a halo on every leaf and keeps the trunks in near silhouette.

Warm Photography in a Cold Bathroom

Warm photography is worth more in a cold room than in a warm one, so this does its best work in a north-facing bathroom with grey tile and no direct sun, where the amber supplies what the daylight does not.
