Yes. The group is composed tightly enough that a 35-inch crop keeps all three animals, losing the outer trees rather than any of the bears. It ends up looking like a closer photograph rather than a cut-off one.
It reads as still water with a soft reflection of the trunks in it rather than as a mirror surface. That area is the darkest part of the whole panel, which is worth knowing if your rod hangs low and puts it near floor level.
They should not, since both come from the same natural palette. The one combination to watch is orange-toned varnished pine, which can pull the browns in the print towards red; matte or limed timber sits with it more comfortably.
Less often for appearance, more often for hygiene. Soap film shows far less on a dark print, which is precisely why it is easy to leave too long, so it is worth putting it on a schedule rather than waiting until you can see something.
