The flowers on this grey floral shower curtain are drawn wide open and face on, each one a flat watercolour disc with a dark seeded centre, scattered in a dense repeat across white. Three colours do the work: a soft charcoal, a warm ochre yellow and a mid taupe for the leaves, with no outlines anywhere. Because every bloom is shown from the same angle, the pattern reads as a considered textile rather than as a photographed bouquet. The blooms sit close enough that the white between them behaves as a shape in its own right rather than as empty background, which is what stops the print from looking sparse.

They are drawn loosely enough to read as either: wide open petals with a dark seeded eye, closer to an anemone in structure and to a poppy in colour. Nothing about the drawing is botanically exact, which is deliberate.
A warm ochre, between the two. It is muted rather than bright, which is what lets it sit beside charcoal without the pairing looking like a sports kit. Against a cream towel it will read slightly greener.
At tub width you will see it if you look, since the blooms are large. Gathered on the rod it disappears entirely into the folds, which is how most people will actually see the panel.
