Three Painted Figures on an Aged Papyrus Ground

The heritage shower curtain places three Egyptian portraits side by side across the whole width of the panel: a striped nemes headdress in teal and gold, a crowned queen shown in profile, and a third figure whose broad collar is picked out in turquoise. They sit on a mottled ochre field printed to imitate aged papyrus, fibre lines and scorched edges included, so the artwork reads as a fragment of wall painting rather than a flat graphic. There is no repeat anywhere on the cloth.

What does the reverse of the panel look like?

Plain undyed polyester. The artwork is applied to the front face only, so from inside the shower you are looking at white cloth rather than at the pharaohs. That is standard construction for a printed curtain, and it also stops the image ghosting through when a light sits behind the panel.

Will the papyrus texture look pixelated up close?

The mottling and fibre lines are part of the printed file rather than a woven texture, so at arm's length you can tell it is print. From normal standing distance the graining reads convincingly as old paper. The portrait linework itself is the sharpest part of the design.

Does the warm orange clash with a white bathroom?

Not in practice. On plain white tile the ochre reads as the only warm thing in the room, which is usually the point of hanging it. The trouble comes with beige or cream tile that carries its own yellow, where the two warms compete.
