Look closely at this modern white shower curtain and the pattern turns out to be mathematics: integrals, matrices, summation signs and geometry sketches written in black across a white ground as if someone had filled a blackboard and then inverted it. The density is even from edge to edge, with no border and no focal point, so at a distance it behaves like a fine grey texture and only becomes legible within a couple of feet. Some sections repeat if you hunt for them, most do not. The scale is small, roughly the line height of ordinary handwriting, so the panel never resolves into a single readable statement from any distance.
