A Compass Rose Drawn Over an Old Sea Chart
Nautical fabric shower curtains usually mean anchors and rope; this one is a cartographic panel instead. A large dark compass rose with eight ornate points sits left of centre over an aged sea chart, its place names and coastlines printed in faded brown, and a sketched sailing ship rides the lower right corner where the chart edge frays. Everything is held in a single sepia range from cream through tan to a deep walnut at the compass, so the panel reads as one aged surface rather than as a set of separate motifs. The chart fills the ground completely, so there is no empty area anywhere on the panel.

Some of the larger ones are, though the chart is drawn as texture rather than as a working map. Most of the lettering reads as marks from more than a couple of feet away.
Deep walnut, close to black at the points and lighter in the ornamental centre. It is the darkest element on the panel and it anchors the composition.
Beside a bright white basin the warmth is obvious, but that contrast is not unpleasant. What it genuinely fights is cool grey porcelain, which drains the brown of its warmth.
