Where a small bathroom has nothing on the walls, these nautical themed shower curtains supply the whole picture: a three-masted galleon under full sail, heeling slightly, crossing calm blue water with a sunset burning orange and gold behind the rigging. The sky occupies the upper half and shifts from deep blue at the top through violet into that band of orange along the horizon. The hull sits low and dark against the light. The sails are the palest thing on the panel and catch the sunset colour along their lower edges, which is what stops the ship from reading as a flat silhouette against the sky.

The orange is confined to a band along the horizon, roughly the middle fifth of the panel, with deep blue above and below it. In practice the panel reads as blue with a warm centre rather than as an orange curtain.
Yes, and it is the sharpest part of the print because it is silhouetted against the bright sky. From across a bathroom the individual lines are visible rather than merging into a mass.
It works well for an older child, since a sailing ship is an easy subject to like without being babyish. The palette is fairly dark, so in a small unlit room it may feel heavier than a bright print would.
