A near-plain panel has nowhere to hide a mark, and this pale pink shower curtain is very nearly plain: long blush ribbons sweep across a chalk-white ground in wide curves, tonal enough that from the doorway the panel simply reads as pink. The lines vary in weight as they travel, thickening through the bends the way a brushstroke does. The bottom edge is shaped and weighted so the curves are not broken by an uneven hem. There is no outline, no second colour and no motif anywhere on the panel, so the whole thing depends on the relationship between two very close tones. Nothing else is asked of it. The curves are wide enough that only two or three complete sweeps fit on the panel, which keeps the drawing generous rather than fussy.

Just visible. The blush sits only a step away from the chalk ground, so at more than a few feet the panel reads as a soft plain pink and the curves emerge as you approach. That is the intended effect.
Pink under warm light, close to white under a cold LED. The tonal difference between line and ground is small enough that lighting decides which one you see first.
They break into segments in the folds, which most people read as extra movement. Drawn flat the sweeps are continuous. If the drawing matters to you, hang the panel with minimal fullness.
