This taupe shower curtain is a tone-on-tone panel: broad leaf shapes are laid over the greige ground in the same colour family, a shade or two apart, so the motif only surfaces where the light rakes across it. Straight on it reads as a plain warm neutral. From an angle the leaves appear. The taupe itself sits between beige and grey without committing to either, which is exactly why it works in a room where the tile is one temperature and the timber another. Water beads on the surface rather than soaking in. The leaves are drawn broad and open, roughly the size of a spread hand, rather than as a fine all-over repeat, so what surfaces is a few large shapes rather than a busy field.

It is printed a shade off the ground colour rather than woven in as a jacquard. That is why it appears and disappears with the light instead of showing as a raised relief. Run a hand over it and the surface is flat.
It sits between the two, with just enough warmth to avoid looking cold beside timber and just enough grey to avoid looking yellow beside white tile. That neutrality is the point of the colour. In daylight it reads a touch warmer than under a cool bulb.
Yes, droplets sit on the face rather than darkening the cloth, which is what the water-repellent finish is for. It slows the panel getting heavy during a shower. Fabric softener will kill that behaviour, so leave it out of the wash.
