Glossy Red Lips Caught Mid-Bite on Black

Keeping a black glam shower curtain looking new is mostly about protecting two things: the depth of the black ground and the gloss on the red. The image is a single pair of lips, painted in a high-shine scarlet with white highlights running along the upper curve, biting down on the lower lip so a sliver of teeth shows. There is nothing else on the panel at all. That emptiness is why any dulling of the black shows up immediately, and why the wash routine matters more here than on a busy print. Does a black panel show soap splash?

Dried hard water shows more on black than on a pale ground, in the form of faint white speckling low down. It rinses off with a shower head before it ever needs a wash. Wiping the lower third occasionally keeps it looking solid.

How glossy does the red actually look?

The shine is printed rather than physical, so the panel is matte to the touch while the lips read as wet and lacquered. It photographs stronger than it looks in person. Under warm lighting the scarlet deepens noticeably.

Is it too much for a small bathroom?

In a small room it works better than expected, because a single large image on a plain ground gives the eye one place to land instead of a busy pattern to unpick. What matters is keeping the rest of the room quiet. In a large bathroom you may want a second black element to balance it.

Will the white highlights yellow?

Not from washing, provided the temperature stays low and no chlorine is used. The highlights are printed into the design rather than being bare undyed fabric. Heat from a dryer is the more likely cause of any dulling.
