An Antique World Map Printed on Parchment Tones
The cloth is what makes this brown beige shower curtain convincing, because a cartography print only works if the ground reads as aged paper rather than as printed fabric. Here the polyester takes a mottled parchment tone, warm sand at the centre darkening to a scorched brown at the edges, with the two hemispheres of an old world map drawn across it in fine sepia line: coastlines, wind roses, rigged sailing ships and sea creatures filling the empty ocean. Latitude lines and engraved lettering are reproduced sharply enough to read as an etching, and the discolouration is printed in rather than uniform, so the surface has the uneven quality of something that has been rolled and unrolled for a century. Nothing about it looks new, which is the entire point.
- Cuts: 59 x 71 and 71 x 71 inches (width x height)
- Material: woven polyester, printed front face
- Design: twin-hemisphere antique world map
- Colors: parchment sand, sepia line, scorched brown edges
- Header: 12 metal grommets, silver-tone
- Included: 12 reinforced hooks
- Treatment: water-repellent, anti-stain, mildew-resistant
- Care: machine wash at 86°F
Warm Browns in a Room Full of Cold Surfaces
Bathrooms are almost entirely hard cold materials, and a parchment-toned panel is the cheapest way to warm one without touching the tile. It sits particularly well with dark timber, brass and a plain cream towel, and it suits an older house better than a new-build. It is the most literal design in our vintage shower curtains, and the Brown and Tan Shower Curtain panel shares the same collector's instinct in a colder monochrome register.

Questions, answered.
It reproduces the style and conventions of an early modern chart, with distorted coastlines and decorative sea creatures, rather than a modern atlas. Continents are recognisable but the outlines are period rather than correct. It is decoration rather than reference.
The larger ocean and continent names are legible from a step away, while the smallest engraved text reads as texture rather than words. That is a limit of printing fine type on a woven surface. The overall impression is convincingly detailed.
The centre of the panel is a light parchment tone, so it is far less heavy than a solid brown would be. The darkening happens at the edges, where it frames rather than dominates. Against white tile it reads as warm rather than dim.
Yes, the mottling and the scorched border scale with the panel rather than being cropped off. The narrower cut simply shows a tighter frame around the map. Neither version looks like a fragment.
