The subject on this brown cloth shower curtain is a single bay horse caught with one foreleg raised, photographed against a smoky studio backdrop that shades from sepia at the top to near-black around the hooves. Dust rises off the ground under the raised foot. The animal fills most of the panel and is lit from the left, so the muscle over the shoulder and the sheen along the flank carry all the tonal range the image has. There is no landscape and no horizon, only the animal and the graded backdrop, so the panel reads as a portrait rather than as a scene. That restraint is unusual on a printed curtain.

Whole, from ears to hooves, with a little of the backdrop above and below. That is why the single square size matters: cropping this image to a narrow panel would cut the animal in half, so the maker did not offer one.
Less than in the lit half. The lower legs and the ground fade into near-black by design, which concentrates attention on the head and shoulder. Under a dim ceiling bulb that lower area reads as solid dark.
It will sit awkwardly, yes. The image is entirely warm, so it belongs against cream, timber or a painted warm neutral. In a cool grey room it tends to look brown in the wrong way.
