The Charcoal and White Shower Curtain is a single photographic head study: a dapple-grey horse in a leather bridle, turned three-quarters to camera, isolated on a plain pale ground with no landscape behind it. Everything in the image sits between charcoal and white, so the panel has the tonal range of a black-and-white photograph while still being a colour print. The absence of a background is what makes it work at panel scale, since the eye goes straight to the head instead of reading a scene.

It is a colour print of a grey subject, which amounts to almost the same thing visually. There is a faint warmth in the leather of the bridle, but everything else falls between charcoal and off-white.
In the upper two thirds. The head and neck occupy most of the panel height with the pale ground filling the lower section, so on a standard rod the eyes sit at roughly adult eye level.
It shows marks sooner than a printed pattern would, but the stain-resistant finish means splash lifts in a cool wash rather than setting. Washing it monthly is enough to keep the ground reading clean.
