The dark blue and white shower curtain is built as three horizontal blocks rather than as a print: a deep navy field at the top, a band of white and pale grey running across the upper third, and navy again from there to the hem. The proportions are the design, since the pale band sits high enough to read as a horizon and low enough to keep the bulk of the panel dark. There is no motif anywhere on it. The two navy fields are the same shade rather than graded, so the band reads as an interruption rather than as a horizon in a picture.

In the upper third, roughly at shoulder height on a standard hang. It is placed as a proportion of the panel, so it stays in the same relative position on the longer cut.
Flat, with no lustre. What you see in the photograph is fold shadow rather than a finish on the fabric.
It shows splashes sooner, but it sits high enough on the panel to stay out of the main spray zone, which is the practical advantage of placing it in the upper third. The navy below takes the wear instead.
