Does the black ground make the room feel closed in?

It will in a small windowless bathroom, since the panel absorbs most of the light that reaches it. The compensation is that the reds glow under warm bulbs. Keep the walls and floor pale if the room is tight.

Are the candle flames printed sharply?

They are the brightest points on the panel and read clearly from across the room. Very close up the flame edges soften slightly against the weave, which is normal on any large-format fabric print.

Will the red bleed onto white towels in the wash?

Not if you wash it alone the first two or three times and keep the water at 86 degrees. Deep reds on a dark ground carry a lot of pigment, and hot water is what releases it.
