A Kraken Drawn in Fine Ink Line, Filling the Whole Panel
The Kraken Shower Curtain reproduces an ink drawing at full panel scale: a giant octopus with its mantle high on the panel, eyes level with your own, and eight arms sprawling out to the edges in coiling suckers. The technique is old-fashioned engraving, all cross-hatching and stipple with no flat black anywhere, so from a distance it reads as smoky grey and only sharpens into line work when you step close. There is no colour and no background, just the creature on bare white, and no border either, so the arms run straight off the edges of the panel as though the sheet were too small to hold them.

Where a Big Black Engraving Actually Works
A drawing this large needs room to be seen, so it wants a straight rail and a plain wall opposite, not a busy tiled recess. It works particularly well in a bathroom leaning masculine or nautical, where black fittings and a dark timber shelf pick up the ink without adding colour. Restrict any accent to charcoal or brass. Yes. The drawing is a single figure rather than a repeat, so the 35 and 59-inch widths crop it toward the centre. The head and the two front arms are always present; the outermost coils only survive at 71 inches.
Lines throughout. There are no filled black areas, which is why the panel reads mid-grey from the doorway. Up close you can follow individual hatching strokes across the mantle.
Straight out. The mantle sits high on the panel with both eyes level and facing forward, which is a large part of why the drawing holds a room rather than reading as decoration. On the narrower cuts the head stays centred even when the outer arms are lost.
