Potted Cacti Lined Up Along a Striped Sand Ground
The Plant Shower Curtain draws a row of potted cacti along the lower half of the panel: tall columnar stems, round barrel forms, flat prickly pear pads, a few crowned with small magenta and orange flowers, all sitting in glazed pots patterned with stripes and zigzags. Above them the ground is a warm sand shade broken by fine vertical stripes, which lifts the composition without adding another subject. The drawing is flat and illustrative, with hand-drawn spines rather than photographic detail, and the pots are given as much attention as the plants standing in them.

Drawn, in a flat illustrative style with visible hand-drawn spines and no shading. That is what lets them sit comfortably on a striped ground; a photographic plant would look pasted on.
Along the lower half, with the tallest stems reaching about the middle. Everything above that is plain striped ground, which keeps the header area quiet.
It is a warm oat rather than a yellow, with the vertical stripes a shade darker. Next to a cool grey tile it will read warmer than it does in the photograph.
