Small Teal Squares Over a Shell Border

Pale grounds are the ones that need looking after, and the Seafoam Shower Curtain is about as pale as they come: a near-white weave scattered with small teal squares in a loose grid, finishing in a deep border of shells, starfish and scrolling waves along the bottom third. The squares are printed at varying opacity so the field looks hand-stamped rather than tiled, and the border is drawn in the same single teal, which keeps the whole panel to two colors. Squares vary in size as well as in opacity, some barely visible against the ground, and the border sits on a slightly deeper band of color that grounds the whole panel at the hem.

How deep is the shell border?

It occupies roughly the bottom third of the panel, deep enough to read as a band rather than a trim. On a tub the rim covers the lowest inches of it.

Are the squares in a strict grid?

They follow a grid but the spacing and the density vary, so the field looks stamped by hand. That irregularity is what stops it reading as bathroom tile.

How warm is the near-white behind the squares?

It is very slightly warm, closer to chalk than to bright white, which is why it sits comfortably against beige and travertine rather than fighting them.
