Photographed outdoors in natural light. You can see dew on some of the petals and the slight translucency of the daisy heads where the sun is behind them, neither of which an illustration reproduces convincingly.
The photograph was taken with a shallow depth of field from very low down, so only the near flowers are sharp. The effect is deliberate and it is what keeps the panel from feeling busy at eye level.
It is a fresh grass green in the sharp band and a much paler wash above, so match to the lighter tone rather than the darker one. White reads best of all against it.
