Does the white background stay white over time?

It holds well with cool washing, though a warm bathroom with hard water will leave a faint cast eventually. Washing before the marks set is the practical answer. Bleach is not needed and would attack the crimson.

Is the fruit shown at life size?

Larger than life on the standard panel, where the halved melon is roughly the width of two hands. On the 79 inch format it is rescaled and reads closer to natural size. Either way it is meant to be seen from across the room.

Will this look out of place outside the summer months?

The palette is green and red on white, which reads as fresh rather than seasonal, so most bathrooms carry it year round. It is brighter than a neutral panel in winter light. Some people keep a second, quieter curtain for the colder months.
