A Painted Lion Against a Starlit Teal Field

Front and center on the Teal Green Shower Curtain is a lion's head painted in loose golden strokes, its mane breaking into ribbons of amber, ochre and warm brown that trail off toward the edges of the face. Behind it the ground is a deep teal green flecked with tiny white points, closer to a night sky than to a background wash. The eyes are the sharpest thing in the image and hold the composition together. Brushwork stays visible throughout, so the mane reads as paint rather than fur. The contrast between cool ground and warm subject is the whole design.

Is the background blue or green?

It is a deep teal that shifts between the two depending on the light, reading greener under warm bulbs and bluer under cool daylight. Neither description is wrong. Against a true blue tile it will look green.

Are the white flecks stars or an artifact of the print?

They are painted into the design as small light points across the darker areas, giving the ground a night-sky quality. They are deliberate and appear on every size. Nothing about them is a print fault.

Does the lion look aggressive or calm?

Calm. The mouth is closed and the gaze is direct rather than snarling, which is why it works in a shared bathroom. Children generally find it striking rather than frightening.
