A blue pattern shower curtain in a family bathroom gets washed often, so the construction matters as much as the drawing. Here the design is dye-set into woven polyester, which is why the fine black outlines around each whale stay crisp after repeated cool cycles instead of blurring. The pattern itself is a scattering of hand-drawn whales in petrol blue, powder blue, cream and warm brown, surrounded by dashes and dots that stand in for water. Scale is generous, with the largest whale about the length of a forearm.

The repeat stays the same size across the range, so a narrow panel shows fewer whales rather than smaller ones. That keeps the drawing readable for a child standing right next to it.
Dye-set prints tolerate frequent cool washing, and a fortnightly cycle is realistic for a family bathroom. What shortens the life of any print is hot water and tumble drying, not the frequency itself.
It is a small proportion of the design and it stops the blues looking clinical. If your room has no warm tones at all, that brown is the colour to echo in a mat or a towel.
