The retro christmas shower curtain is a seasonal panel, and it commits to it. A traditional Father Christmas in a fur-trimmed coat stands alongside a painted wooden nutcracker soldier, both illustrated in the flat, slightly worn style of a mid-century greetings card. Behind them the red ground dissolves into soft bokeh circles like out-of-focus fairy lights, and the words Merry Christmas run across the upper part of the panel in a heavy script. Nothing about it is subtle, which is appropriate to the job. The printing imitates old offset work, with the colours very slightly out of register and the whites tinted warm, so the panel looks like something reproduced decades ago rather than drawn last year. That is the difference between a nostalgic print and a merely festive one.

Deliberately aged. The red carries a warm, faintly faded quality that suits the mid-century drawing style, rather than the pure pillar-box red of a modern seasonal print. Under warm bulbs it reads warmer still.
Polyester tolerates long storage better than most fabrics, but a hard fold across a printed script will show when it is rehung. Rolling it around a cardboard tube, or hanging it in a wardrobe over a hanger, avoids that entirely.
Only with items of a similar depth of colour. The red ground is saturated and this panel should never share a machine with white napkins or pale towels. Washed with other reds at 86 F it is perfectly safe.
