A Black Dragon With Translucent Teal Wings
Two very different surfaces have to survive the same wash on Teal and Black Shower Curtain: a matte black dragon, painted with almost no internal detail, and the enormous membrane wings behind it, which are a luminous teal green and semi-transparent, so the misty grey mountain behind shows faintly through them. The creature is caught mid-turn with its head low and the wing edges sharp against the fog. The ground is a cold grey wash with no horizon line in it. The wing membranes are ribbed with fine black lines fanning out from the shoulder, and the tail curls down into the mist without a visible end to it. No horizon appears anywhere behind the creature, so there is nothing in the image to measure it against.

A Dark Subject in a Grey-Tiled Room

They are painted as a membrane, with the mountain behind visible through the thinnest sections and the ribs picked out in solid black. The fabric itself is fully opaque.
Teal, with a strong blue component, though the brightest edges of the wings push toward a light green. The title reflects the dominant tone rather than the highlights.
It does if the room is grey or white, since the misty ground reads as depth rather than as a solid dark block. In a small warm-toned room it closes the space down.
